Are You Intrusive? (rant)

I get lots of people contacting me every day - asking for an opinion, a review, a recommendation, promotion… Is there a point when you say “enough is enough”?

I’m at a point that I need some advice to deal with this issue.

I have always tried to be very transparent and accessible to anyone who needs me, and try to share what I can to help others in their quest for success. But it’s come to a point where as soon as I log onto my computer, I have 10 people immediately needing my help with something. I spend a good portion of my day distracted by interruptions from people who could find the answers to the problems they ask me about with a simple search on any internet marketing forum!

Now, I try very hard to answer whatever questions are asked, but it costs me a minimum of 4 hours per day. Occasionally it even requires research to provide the proper resources. Or an in-depth analysis of an abysmal sales letter or product. Or worse, they ask in-depth questions that are better suited to an hour or two on the phone with a coach or mentor.

And THEN these same people, once they have gotten their answers, ask, “So… how’s things?” or, “So - what are YOU working on?”

Well, let me answer that for ya…

First, I just spent an hour of my valuable time explaining to you how to create a payment button, or write a sales page, or sign up with ClickBank… all things that could have been learned through an ebook or from any marketing forum - just type it into Google. I was very patient and helpful, and now I need to work on my own projects. I don’t have time to sit and shoot the breeze via Messenger!

PLEASE… If you need help, I’ll remain accessible. But at least make a TINY effort to not waste my time or yours with things you could learn far easier by searching. I am delighted to help if you get stuck, and can’t find a solution - but you really need to learn things on your own, not simply be spoon-fed every single step of the way.

For those of you who have access to me via Messengers - I’ve turned them off. Please send a ticket through the Help Desk so that I can answer your problems during a time when I’m not in the middle of something. Or use email. You’ll be delighted to know that I’m in the midst of creating a forum where I’ll be accessible far more often! AND, the best part is, the forum will provide future marketers with the knowledge they need - thanks to all of you and YOUR questions!

The new forum (still under wraps) will be launched on June 1st.

If anyone has any suggestions, comments, criticism, etc. - I’m all ears.

Hey Lisa why don’t you charge professional fee to those people you talked about.

I did think of that… The only problem is that I really DO want to help those who need it, those who make an effort to educate themselves and learn. I have no patience for those who want me to just give them all the answers. There’s no long-term value in it, for me OR them.
I’d rather teach them how to fish…
